Ashley - Regional Manager: Jonathan
was born in Manchester but had an expatriate upbringing in Nigeria
before completing his education the
UK. Following graduation from Liverpool University where he
read Politics, he joined the financial services industry initially
with Guardian Royal Exchange. He moved to Eagle Star covering
part of the City of London specialising on the life side of
the business. Thereafter, he moved to Eagle Star International
and has had various sales development responsibilities, including
a 3-year spell developing corporate pensions business with a
worldwide brief. Currently Jonathan leads the Zurich International
European Sales Team based in Reading. Married to Rachel with
two teenage daughters, he lives in Wokingham, Berkshire. When
he's not travelling the world on business, he enjoys sport,
varied musical tastes and speaking French!
ROYAL
SKANDIA BUILDS ON SUCCESS
A magnificent new structure occupying the site of the former
Douglas Bay Hotel has become quite a talking point across the
Island as people have watched it take shape. The new, purpose-built
headquarters for Royal Skandia consolidates the Company's reputation
as the Island's premier life assurance employer.
Royal Skandia's new headquarters built by Heritage
Homes comprises of over 57,000 square feet over four open-plan
floors, each having balconies and specially designed floor to
ceiling glass windows which really take advantage of the unparalleled
sea views over Douglas Bay.
Mark Halewood, Customer Services Director points
out: "One of the disadvantages of working in central Douglas
is the congestion and expensive parking costs. We can now offer
free secure onsite parking. Apart from the obvious cost benefit
which in real terms is worth in excess of £700 per annum,
most of the spaces are under cover, which is convenient in our
rainy winters. To encourage those who prefer to jog or cycle,
there are showers and lockers. We now have all the advantages
of working in Douglas without the disadvantages."
The company has invested heavily in the latest technology for
the new office, implementing Category 6 cabling, high speed/high
capacity Cisco networking, which is fully integrated with the
latest IP telephony systems from Mitel. In addition to providing
high performance, reliability and security, this advanced infrastructure
provides exciting new features such as Voice Recognition allowing
phone users to interact with computer systems. For state of the
art presentations, a "media wall" with 61" flat
digital screen has been installed together with the latest available
videoconferencing technology.
Nigel Jones, Head of IT said: "Technology
moves on so fast, but we have installed what we believe to be
at the cutting edge of what is currently available. This gives
us an excellent foundation to continue to build and develop new
systems and services, to maintain our first-class service to clients
and our leading position in the industry."
Royal Skandia are proud of the new building and
are planning launch events to announce their occupancy of the
building. The first will be an official opening ceremony performed
by His Excellency The Lieutenant Governor Air Marshal Ian MacFadyen.
Following this, the Company is planning an open day.
Dr Kilmurry adds: "There is a lot of interest
in the new building and now it is complete we are extremely pleased
with it. We want to allow as many people as possible to see the
building for themselves. We are confident that everyone will be
impressed. Royal Skandia has seen tremendous change over the years,
and this move really sets us up for the future. I believe we've
got the best team on the Island and we have invested heavily in
providing the best working environment."
Now with the move successfully completed, the
Company is poised for the next chapter in its evolution.
