From the Managing Director's Desk

I hope you have recovered from any summer excesses and returned to work refreshed and rarin' to go. It certainly seems like some of you have. September was a record month for Inter-Alliance WorldNet and profits, so elusive in the first half of the year, re-appeared in the 3rd quarter.

In fact, each month since June we have seen steadily increasing revenues and with some excellent results from our new and our older hands - as mentioned within this issue. Congratulations to all of our top performers.

Firstly, I must apologise for the delay in getting this newsletter out to you. As explained at the Cyprus seminar, there was still a lot of work to be done to get IAW on track in terms of expense management and service provision. We needed to address a number of areas within the Cyprus office in our search for greater efficiencies. This we have now done. We know that we must be prepared to constantly evolve if we are to achieve our goal of becoming the recognised brand leader for the provision of support services to the international IFA community. We will not let you down here.

As part of that commitment to service provision, we are delighted to welcome Tina on board as our Marketing Assistant. Amongst Tina's jobs will be ensuring that this newsletter gets out on time, every time. She is also charged with making it interesting, informative and fun. So she'd really appreciate any articles, ideas or jokes etc that you might like to share with us.

In May, I also committed to "raising the bar" in terms of the standards expected of new and existing members. I am therefore delighted to welcome our new members - all high quality IFA firms that are proud to become part of IAW. We have also agreed to accept the resignation of some members where we believe that the "new" WorldNet is perhaps not right for them. By the year-end, we are committed to having a team of top quality of industry professionals within IAW. We can then begin in earnest to roll out some of our key initiatives including our planned training and development schemes.

We are now well into, what has always been, the most productive and profitable quarter of the business year. Thank you for your support since the May meeting and my best wishes to you for success in achieving your goals.

Whatever they are, make sure to clear your diary for January in Dubai.

Best Wishes,
Brian Cosgrave

Buying And Selling Your Business - "Practice Buy-Out"

We have long believed that one of the advantages of being a member of IAW would be the potential to realise some capital value from your business. IAW can facilitate such transactions between members keen to sell their practice and members keen to buy a practice.

We never expected that the first practice buy-out we would facilitate would be between two non-members. Incredibly, that is just what has happened. Bob takes up the story…

"I was dealing with an enquiry from a potential member based in Europe. After several discussions it transpired that what this 'potential member' really wanted was to sell his business…and, could we help him…?

Well, yes actually. You see, at our May seminar in Limassol, we had a delegate who was considering coming offshore and whose appetite became greater having sat through the various seminar sessions with
us. He happened to be considering setting up his operations in the very

town in which our prospective seller was operating. Within days both parties were talking. Within weeks they had met. And within 2 months the deal was done.

So there it is. One happy seller; one happy buyer; and one new member for Inter-Alliance WorldNet."

The message? There are opportunities all the time; you just have to be at the right place and at the right time…..and what better place to be than Inter-Alliance WorldNet!

PS: If you are interested in buying or selling an IFA business now or in the future, contact us - we'll be delighted to provide assistance and advice.

Lastly, I would like to wish all the members a successful last quarter of 2003 and look forward to seeing you all in January at the Seminar in Dubai.

Best Wishes,
Bob Deal
